Queens strip club Scandals may be pushed out of LIC by zoning changes
NY Daily News, March 17, 2010

A Queens jiggle joint contends it's being squeezed out of its Long Island City location by the city as part of a bigger push to scrub New York of its adult entertainment hotspots.

"This would absolutely shutter them," said Joan Toro, a lawyer for Scandals. "If people want to get lap dances, they should be able to get lap dances."

The suit by the topless club near the Queensboro Bridge accuses the city of making zoning changes that are shrinking the 21 districts where strip clubs can operate.

A lawyer for the city fired back that the city's zoning laws were found to be constitutional 10 years ago by the Court of Appeals.

"We are confident that this latest challenge has no more merit than the cases previously rejected by the state's highest court," said city lawyer Robin Binder.
