Businesses must make arrangements with a private carter for the collection of recyclables and garbage. The Department of Sanitation does not handle commercial waste.

Build It Green! NYC is New York City's only non-profit retail outlet for salvaged and surplus building materials. Visit them in Astoria at 3-17 26th Avenue or on the web at http://www.bignyc.org.

Materials for The Arts collects a wide range of materials to donate to local arts groups. Call 718.729.3001 or visit them online at http://www.mfta.org/home.html.

Donate your used computers to Per Scholas.  They are a nonprofit organization that brings computers to  low-income children and families at the lowest possible cost, trains community residents to gain employment as computer technicians and provides environmentally responsible recycling of end-of-life computer equipment. http://www.perscholas.org/
